HEALTH CARE REFORM

As part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) you will be able to enroll your eligible children in medical coverage under your health care plan through the end of the month they turn age 26.

Prior to the new law, the plan covered children up to the age of 24 based on their full-time student status.
Effective January 1, 2011, each of your children who is under age 26, whether married or unmarried, regardless of their student or employment status and regardless of whether your home is their principal place of residence or whether you support them financially, will be eligible for medical coverage under the plan.
For older children ages 19 through 26, you may select medical coverage only. Dental and Vision coverage remains unchanged for older children, ages 19 through 24 if they are full-time students.
A special enrollment period to add your dependent children will be from November 1 through November 30, 2010 with an effective date of coverage being January 1, 2011.
