Greetings:
In the ratification process, we have been receiving many questions from retirees about the health care benefits that will be provided by the VEBA next year.
In August, the VEBA Board made its decision regarding next year's benefits. Normally, those benefits would be announced by the VEBA, with full details, in a roll-out mailing to all retirees in November.
Given the questions that are being raised from retirees, we asked the VEBA to release some preliminary information about next year's benefit package. The VEBA's statement is attached.
As you will see, the VEBA is adding a limited office visit benefit for all retirees, and a preventative dental benefit and vision exam benefit for GM and Chrysler retirees. (Ford retirees already receive traditional dental and vision benefits.)
We think it will be helpful to retirees and active employees to have this preliminary information as they proceed through the ratification process.
